No Christmas Lights b4 time please

I am really mad at the fact that the entire city is already lighted up for Christmas. There’s hundreds of thousands of lights decorating the streets –shining bright since 7 in the afternoon- and Christmas is still one month away! We’ve definitely gone crazy.
Since little I’ve been said that Earth’s primary sources of energy are limited and I have always been taught to save the energy when it is not necessary. The importance of saving electricity, water, gas…. is one of the things our kids learn at their early years of school. But ironically, here we are, it’s 22 of November and the whole city of Barcelona is wasting the greatest amount of energy in useless lights for decoration only because, apparently, it is great to feel like Christmas already! Cool.
It really is time for us to realize how messed our society is. It can look like we’re in the highest and better place the humankind has ever been -technologically and scientifically speaking- but we couldn’t be lower.
Living constantly in the future; weather we’re waiting for summer, Easter, Halloween or Christmas, we have invented festivities all year around non-stop just so that we have an excuse to celebrate. Don’t get me wrong; celebrating is cool and we should do it every day, celebrate that we are alive, that we all have been blessed with the endless possibilities we’re surrounded with… But sadly, the main point of the whole celebration-thing nowadays is only one: MONEY.
Industries spend hundreds of €€€ in order to come up with good strategies to make people spend more and more of their money in unnecessary useless things. They’ve made us believe that consuming equals to happiness and it couldn’t be more wrong.
